Researchers have found that being overweight could disguise the appearance of wrinkles as you get older. Don't reach for the biscuit tin just yet though, they also found that young people who were carrying extra weight tended to look older than their years.

Much of how we age is linked to genetics, although up to 40 per cent of the changes to the human face are caused by other factors. Smoking cigarettes and too much exposure to the sun's rays are primary culprits of skin ageing.

The latest study looked at 65 pairs of twins to identify which lifestyle factors were ageing them. The researchers found that being overweight tended to make the volunteers look older.

However, if the twins were in their mid-fifties or older, the effects of extra weight on their appearance seemed to be change, the researchers from the Case Western Reserve School of Medicine, Cleveland, found.

From 54 onwards, those who were overweight started to look younger than their slim twin.

"Implying that although excess fat may increase the skin's susceptibility to damage, it may help mask the appearance of wrinkles in old age," the authors write in the Archives of Dermatology journal.

"Well, i used to struggle to find clothes that fitted but it has got so much better over the years!

I'm 29 and i just shop on the high street and sometimes the internet. Top Shop is my favourite for jeans and smart work trousers, they have a tall range where the trousers go to a 36" leg.

New Look, Dorothy Perkins and M and S all do longer length jeans/trousers but i don't really like the cut of them. To be honest even the supermarkets do longer length trousers/jeans but the top shop ones fit so well i rarely venture away from them!

I don't struggle to find tops and t-shirts anymore as the fashion has changed to longer length anyway and i love buying the tunics and tea dresses that are everywhere as they go very well over jeans.

I have to admit it's quite difficult to find a nice casual day dress to wear on it's own (without jeans, leggings or black tights) - what i mean is - the tea dresses are all quite short so i couldn't just wear them on their own :(

Cardigans and jumpers can be difficult because of the sleeves, they are never long enough so i just tend to go for short sleeves. In fact the more i think about it all my shirts/cardi's/t-shirts etc are all short sleeved to avoid the hassle!

Coats are a bit hit and miss - due to the same issue of the sleeve length.

Smart Suit - This is a NIGHTMARE! In the end i found one in Principles that was fashionable and longer length in the arms and trousers!

Cropped trousers/shorts/mini skirts - all come up very short on me so i don't really bother. I do wear shorter skirts but only with black tights or leggings.

ASOS can be good sometimes as they have options to choose a longer length - but the chance of having it in the size you want and the longer length is sometimes limited and frustrated.

It would be great to have a website where you go onto it and where it would have collated all the tall ranges and i could pick and choose!"

Annett Wolf said that the US actor, who had been battling pancreatic cancer for nearly two years, died with family at his side on Monday.

Swayze was diagnosed with advanced stage four pancreatic cancer in January last year.

"Patrick Swayze passed away peacefully today with family at his side after facing the challenges of his illness for the last 20 months," said a statement by Annett Wolf quoted by the Associated Press.

No other details were given.

Jennifer Grey, who co-starred with Swayze in Dirty Dancing, said in a statement "Patrick was a rare and beautiful combination of raw masculinity and amazing grace. Gorgeous and strong, he was a real cowboy with a tender heart."

Men tend to prefer non-surgical procedures as there is more tightening and scarring because male skin is thicker by nature. They are also quicker and easier for men to hide.

It's not just surgery men are considering and there has been an explosion of male grooming products including moisturisers, eye creams and self-tanning products targeted at men. Men are also to be found having more and more manicures.

Partly this is down to "pretty boy" style icons like David Beckham but also more and more men are now single and needing to attract the attention of ladies.

Six out of ten men between 24 and 34 are not married and of those half are single. That means for every ten men, three of them are single.

A study (of 11,000) guys aged 33 showed the most presentable men enjoyed 15% higher salaries than their less well-groomed colleagues. They were also more likely to be married; less likely to be kept waiting in bars and also (if the worst came to the worst) more likely to receive lighter prison sentences.

Also, The Style Show will be home to the Wellbeing Zone, a cocktail bar, celebrity appearances and more.

Customer Service Manager, Monika Paszek explained why the competition is so important... Brastop specialise in plus size bras and the average Brastop customer is a size 12/14 with a 34G bust. This customer cannot relate to the models used by most lingerie brands, which tend to be either stick thin, too glamorous and often digitally enhanced. The Star in a Bra competition is a great opportunity for us to find naturally curvy models and for our customers to step into the spotlight and show how gorgeous a fuller figure can look. It could even kick-start a whole new modelling career!

The response from the competition was overwhelming. Not only from the amazing number of entries we had, but also from our customers who are delighted to see models they can relate to.

Last year around 3,500 women took part in a 3 minute online survey and here are the results.

The first question asked "What are the most sensitive areas on your body?". The responses were in order of most sensitive to least sensitive; Clitoris, vagina, breasts, head and neck, back and shoulders, bum, legs and feet.

Only 70% of women are aware of their G-spot and only 30% knew the exact location.

No surprise here, only 12% of women always achieve orgasm just through penetrative sex. With 65% citing they only sometimes, rarely or never achieve orgasm this way.

Another surprising figure is that only 20% always achieve orgasm through self stimulation. With 30% never making it.

Only 15% of women regularly practise their pelvic floor exercises... Maybe some connection here?

1. When exercising don't do too much repetition or muscle straining as this will tend to bulk you. Instead aim to alternate your activities to include running, walking and skipping through the park. This promotes the use of different muscle groups. Another alternative to the gym is cardio-based exercise classes, like boxercise or aerobics. Can't face the gym or classes? Then head down to your local nightclub and dance the night away - but go easy on the drinks - it is supposed to be a work out after all.

2. Make sure you listen to music whilst you exercise as it has been proven that music heightens your co-ordination and helps with muscle fatigue. It also increases your neuro-transmitters which can help you focus. One good tip is to record 30 mins of up beat music to your iPod and don't stop exercising until its over.

3. Breathing is very important when you’re exercising. For example if your doing sit-ups, breathe out as you curl up and then breathe in as you uncurl. Apparently having less air in your lungs increases your muscle contractions and helps you sustain your routine better.

4. Even if you never find the time (or inclination) to go to the gym, try and make your day to day life into useful exercise. For example when climbing stairs, miss every other one or take the stairs instead of the lift.

5. Try an A-list energy pill like Pur-XP Glisodin (£24.99 and recommended by Elle Macpherson's personal trainer). It prevents lactic acid build up in your muscles meaning you can train for longer.

6. Swap your routines a few times a year. This will not only stop them becoming "routine" but as your body can get used to the same activity if done often enough, will mean you burn more fat long term.

7. Ensure you keep your energy levels up during exercise, otherwise you will tire easily. It is not a good idea to train on an empty stomach, nor a full one. Aim for some light carbs about 30 mins before you exercise. If your jogging or running drink water at least 10 mins before you set off and drink water regularly throughout your exercising.

8. To train effectively you need to raise your heart rate into your fat-burning zone and keep it there, otherwise you will not be achieving as much as you could. A heart-rate monitor is the simplest way of making sure your exercising effectively.

9. Before you start exercising do make sure you stretch your muscles for at least 10 mins to ensure they are warm and relaxed before you start your exercise program. Also don't neglect the post-exercise stretch out. This is important to stop muscle cramps and helps your muscles recover correctly.

10. Wear the correct clothes. Too tight and they will be restrictive. Too lose and you risk tripping or getting them trapped on gym equipment.

Lindsey Agness, founder of The Change Corporation and author of 'Change Your Life with NLP' (£9.99, Prentice Hall-Life) is urging women to consider undertaking some coaching or mentoring before opting to go under the knife, to deal with any underlying confidence issues which if left untreated, may lead to an unhealthy reliance on surgery in the future.

Having tried Botox in the past, Lindsey, 50, quickly realised that it was just a temporary fix and didn't make her feel any happier in herself and so she decided that she needed to change the way she thought about herself.

"I've had two children and I am divorced and so there were lots of confidence issues floating around in my head, as well as being nervous about what it meant to be single again in my 40's. Cosmetic surgery can often seem like the answer for mid-life women looking to recapture their youth, but in reality, the change needs to happen in the way you look at yourself and value yourself in the world," explains Lindsey.

Lindsey now focuses on helping mid-life women to take control of their lives as well as become more confident in their own skin with her new 'Age with Attitude' coaching programme which starts in September.

The Age with Attitude course is a ten-month programme designed to instil long term, permanent change in the way women approach their lives and is in stark contrast to the range of quick fix treatments or one-day courses which can only help in the short term.

"For many women approaching mid-life, there is too much of a focus on changing the outside when what is really wrong is in their minds. I'm amazed at some of the stories I hear from women about how much money they were prepared to spend on cosmetic surgery. In some cases, the amount was three or four times to what they would have spent coming on the Age with Attitude course. Many post-surgery women I speak to still have the same issues they had before the surgery," reveals Lindsey.

8. You don't need expensive moisturisers to keep your skin moist. After washing vaseline can lock in 10x as much moisture as bare skin alone.

A new poll conducted by Recycle Now reveals only 39 per cent of consumers consider the environmental impact of throwing clothes away and yet 63 per cent of our clothing is going to landfill where some of it will biodegrade in airless conditions to form methane, a powerful greenhouse gas.

In fact, we buy approximately 2 million tonnes of new clothing every year, estimated to be worth a £38 billion, but recycle or reuse just 16 per cent of what we discard. Aside from the financial cost of this, the majority of people are unaware of the harmful impact on the environment.

Production of clothes is a major drain on natural resources – it uses up 10 times more energy than the production of steel or glass. On average, each UK resident purchases around £600 worth of clothes per year and discards £400 worth. As this year’s Recycle Week kicks off and encourages us all to think about the many, easy ways we can all waste less in our daily lives.

David McCullough, Trading Director at Oxfam, is supporting Recycle Week and encouraging others to get involved. McCullough said: "Recycling clothes is just as important as reusing or recycling any other material. A huge amount of natural resources go into the production of clothing, so while it’s easy to get wrapped up in fast fashion, spare a thought for the environment, as well as your purse! Why not make the most of your existing wardrobe and pledge to donate what you don’t want and recycle what you can’t use this Recycle Week."

So next time you clear out your wardrobe, instead of putting it straight in the bin either recycle it or better still, take it to charity stores for those that cannot afford to keep buying new outfits.

Dress sizes (well general clothing sizes) should be constant across the high street. But as you probably know this is just not the case!

A size 12 from one store can be the same as a size 10 as each store sizes its clothes for a slightly different "woman". Stores that aim for the younger market (under 25-30) will generally feel tighter than stores that aim for an older market (over 25-30). For example an All Saints size 8 is roughly the same as another stores size 6.

Clothing sizes in Europe should all be standardised as we are supposed to follow EN 13402 which defines the BWH (Bust, Waist, Height) measurements that UK stores are supposed to follow. No-one follows them exactly but some are better than others.

"Vanity sizing" makes matters worse as stores gradually increase their relative dimensions against a standard size. So what was once a size 12 is now called a size 10. Most think it's is done to make people think more positively about their bodies.

To help, we've compiled a simple guide to the top high street stores and compared them to the "standard sizes" in both centimetres and inches. It also enables you to see at a glance which stores stock what sizes.

Researchers from McGill University in Montreal found that women have a more powerful immune system than men thanks to their hormones.

The female hormone Oestrogen boosts the immune system responsible for fighting bacteria and other nasties. An enzyme called caspase-12 blocks the inflammation used by your body to fight bacteria and other bugs.

Oxford Fashion Week opens with a huge party at Oxford's premier club on the 3rd of May, featuring a runway show of the latest in vintage, casual, and classic high-street fashion.

Inspired by styles from the 20th century, the catwalk reflects the fashion influences of the 1920s, 1940s, 1960s and 1970s in today's collections. Decorated by mannequins displaying the themes highlighted during the show, with a deconstructed runway outlined by low level professional lighting. Once the show is over, the stage becomes the dance floor.

For the first time this May, Oxford Fashion Week is bringing you the most spectacular series of fashion events in the UK outside of London.

OFW represents a dynamic, creative collaboration coordinated by a determined team based in the heart of Oxford. The week brings together local venues, businesses, students, and local government with designers, photographers, models, editors, stylists, journalists, and artists from all over the UK, Europe, and beyond. For this first year only, artists and designers are invited to show on our runway and exhibition space for free. Oxford's fashion events have attracted coverage from the national press and from the best names in fashion media including Vogue and Tatler.

Our six events are so much more than just runway shows. We have drawn upon vast reservoirs of raw creativity to construct an unforgettable fashion experience. Our events embrace all areas of fashion, from high-street to high-concept, and are infused with the entirely unique contrasts, culture, and character that can only be found in Oxford.
