Expressing its sympathy to the people in Haiti, lifestyle label Esprit will host an international fundraising campaign on Saturday 23rd in Esprit retail stores. For each purchase made, Esprit will donate one euro to the victims of the Haiti earthquake.

The total amount raised will go to SOS Children's Villages Haiti via the "Esprit Cares Trust" in Hong Kong. This will assist aid workers on the ground, as well as ensure the long-term well being of children in Haiti. Providing psychological help to children who may have been traumatised or orphaned is of particular importance, as is providing them with safe accommodation and searching for any remaining relatives.

SOS Children's Villages is an international non-governmental social development organisation especially focused on children without parental care and children at risk of loosing parental care. SOS Children's Villages was founded in 1949 in Austria.

Designer jeans website Donna Ida is teaming up with several celebrities to raise money for charity Jeans for Genes. The charity provides care for children and families who are affected by genetic disorders. They fund ongoing research into the causes and cures for these disorders.

For the project Holly Willoughby, Little Boots, Florence Welch, Peaches Geldof, Alexandra Burke, Geri Halliwell, Jameela Jamil, Marco Pierre White and Lisa Snowdon have customised and signed a pair of jeans that will be auctioned off online. The jeans, which include Stella McCartney, J Brand, and Sass and Bide will start of at an auction price of £300 at 12 noon for one day only on the 22nd January, but then will go down £5 every minute. The first person that buys them as the price drops down will own their celebrity-customised jeans.

On the initiative Donna Ida comments: "Jeans for Genes is fantastic charity that does important work in the field of genetic research. Using fashion as a platform for raising awareness always works; I think anyone who has a voice should try and use it to help causes like Jeans for Genes."

Wouldn't it be nice to have an excuse not to watch the scales this Christmas? We might just have found one...

Researchers have found that being overweight could disguise the appearance of wrinkles as you get older. Don't reach for the biscuit tin just yet though, they also found that young people who were carrying extra weight tended to look older than their years.

Much of how we age is linked to genetics, although up to 40 per cent of the changes to the human face are caused by other factors. Smoking cigarettes and too much exposure to the sun's rays are primary culprits of skin ageing.

The latest study looked at 65 pairs of twins to identify which lifestyle factors were ageing them. The researchers found that being overweight tended to make the volunteers look older.

However, if the twins were in their mid-fifties or older, the effects of extra weight on their appearance seemed to be change, the researchers from the Case Western Reserve School of Medicine, Cleveland, found.

From 54 onwards, those who were overweight started to look younger than their slim twin.

"Implying that although excess fat may increase the skin's susceptibility to damage, it may help mask the appearance of wrinkles in old age," the authors write in the Archives of Dermatology journal.

So will you be digging in for that second helping of Christmas pudding this year?
